A cathedral without a bishopric

Discover the Roman-Byzantine style of this magnificent religious building, nicknamed the ‘Cathedral of the Lys’, and its privileged location on the edge of an ancient meander of the river Lys.
Listed as a Walloon Heritage Site since 2021.

Anyway the wind blows
Discover the unique history of the Soete Mill, one of the seven largest windmills in Europe.
Destroyed by the Germans in 1914, then rebuilt, it was kept in operation by the Soete family until 1965. Gradually, it fell into disrepair.
After many twists and turns, the restored mill was moved to the entrance of Comines-Warneton. A fire ravaged it, but like a phoenix, it rose from the ashes…
During your visit, you can admire the milling mechanisms in action and enjoy breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside.
