Brewery Museum
A refreshing break
The Brewery Museum welcomes fans of gentle mobility, users of the towpath (RAVeL) along the river Lys, river boat enthusiasts who dock at the mooring and those nostalgic for traditional brewing methods.
A predestined place for a fountain of youth
Does La Poste Brewery, now a museum, occupy the site of Warneton abbey’s brewery long ago? Was beer, the divine nectar of the Egyptians, the monks’ favourite drink?

Evolving techniques for increased productivity
While the fourquet (a wooden stick) was once used to stir the brew, less restrictive methods gradually facilitated the ancestral know-how and promoted the Van Windekens family’s craft.
Three generations of brewers ran the business and produced La Poste beer from 1853 to 1976.
Strange name for a brewery
When Hector Van Windekens fell in love with his future wife, he had no idea that he was about to switch profession. His fiancée Hortense came as a matter of fact from a family of brewers. And so, Hector, Warneton’s postmaster, started brewing beer in 1853. La Poste beer was born!
Subtle atmosphere
The guided tour immerses you in a very special atmosphere. The visitors will discover the family know-how thanks to the intact beauty of the copper vats and original fixtures. The different stages of beer production are explained on three floors.
