Adopt a 14-18 godson
In partnership with the town and the Entente Patriotique de Comines-Warneton, the Tourist Office invites you to ‘adopt’ a soldier of the Great War.
Adopting a WW1 godson is an important symbolic gesture.
It helps establish a genuine and powerful emotional bond beyond time and distance, so that future generations do not forget the sacrifice of these young men during the First World War.
The official ceremonies take place in March/April for adult sponsors and in September/October for schoolchildren.

Contact the Tourist Office if you would like to become the ‘godfather’ or ‘godmother’ of a soldier who fell on our territory during the Great War.
You will then receive an adoption form to fill in (one single mentor for each godchild).
Registrations close on 31 December 2024 for the new 2025 adoption session.
